jeff2Jeff Smallman, born in 1965, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. is a prolific and versatile Canadian composer.  Having begun writing at the age of 8, he now has over 200 works in print. Jeff graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1987 with an honours degree in Theory and Composition, after studying with Alan Heard and Gerhard Wuensch. Jeff's melodic talents incorporate a blend of Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Impressionist styles.

Jeff has received nearly 100 commissions and has written for a wide variety of ensembles, ranging from solo instruments and voices to full orchestra, covering a range of styles and difficulty levels. Performances of Jeff's compositions continue to be given around the world.

Two of Jeff's choral works, "Brier" and "Sentinels of Glory", were declared competition winners in 2004. "Brier", the winner of the ACCC (Association of Canadian Choral Conductors) Associated Publishers Composition Competition, was published by Kelman Hall Publishing (now with Cypress Choral Music) in the summer of 2004. Jeff was admitted to the Canadian League of Composers in 2004, and in 2017 was accepted as an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre.
