To most people, commissioning a composer to write a piece of music is, at best, a mysterious process. Fortunately, it doesn't need to be that way. Suggested rates for commissions can be found by clicking on the "commissioning rates" link at the Canadian League of Composers website. These rates are only a guideline, as all commissions are open to negotiation.
Many considerations go into the commissioning process. Length of work, size of ensemble, deadline, style, and available budget are just a few of the criteria.
Each commission is approached with enthusiasm and dedication. Finished works are set using computer notation software, so are attractive and easy to read.
